What is BSA online services?
The Building Services Authority (BSA) has developed a free “Online Services System” for contractors to conduct BSA business on the Internet. Whilst business can be conducted at any time, transactions made after 4.30pm are completed early the following business day.
Products and services available for BSA online services:
- Allow you to maintain personal and Licensee details such as your address, phone numbers and email address online.
- Nominate Licensee representatives, this will allow you to set up access for family or staff to use BSA online services on your behalf.
- Gives you the ability to purchase Home Warranty Insurance online. Click here to view an instructional video.
- Allow outstanding insurance tax invoice statements balances to be paid online.
- Renew your licence online, including submitting Professional Indemnity Insurance, submitting self-certification of financials and uploading supporting documents. For help with renewing your licence online, view an instructional video here
- Register or de-register for BSA’s free ‘Find Local Contractor Directory’ which allows consumers to find a contractor within a selected kilometre radius from their postcode.

Consumers will access the Find a Local Contractor system through BSA’s website where they will choose the type of building work they are looking for and then select a kilometre radius from their postcode. This will produce a list of contractors, who have registered for the system, whose business addresses falls within this selected boundary.
An example would be if a consumer living at West End wanted to find a licensed carpenter. They would access the Find a Local Contractor system by choosing their suburb (West End) or postcode (4101) and then select a kilometre radius i.e. 5kms from West End. They will receive a list of licensed carpenters whose business addresses falls within a 5km radius of West End.
The information the consumer receives from this search is Licence number, business and or trading name, business address, business phone, mobile, email, and website address. These details will come from our existing database of information and if your current information is no longer correct you will need to update it online or by calling 1300 272 272.
How do I sign up for online services?
The link below will begin the process for you to gain a BSA online profile and this will take a few minutes to complete. As part of the process you will also be asked to allow us to add you to the BSA’s free ‘find a local contractor directory’.
