What is BSA's role?
BSA's role in relation to certification is legislated for in the Building Act 1975 not the Queensland Building Services Authority Act 1991.

BSA is responsible for:

  • Certifier licensing, auditing and investigating complaints in relation to certifiers in Queensland - see Certifier Application Process
  • Administering a register of certifiers and recording any changes of certifier information - see Changing Level, Details or Adding Endorsement
  • Investigating complaints made by others against a licensed certifier - see Certifier Complaints
  • Auditing certifier operations in relation to building practices and other requirements of the governing legislation (occur randomly approximately every three - four years)
  • Making decisions in relation to the cancellation of a certifier's licence, the application of a condition on a licence or enforcing another form of penalty against a certifier.

Want to find a certifier? - You can purchase a list of certifier's details by completing and returning the Obtaining a List of Licensed Certifier's form.  BSA's Online Licence Search facility can be used to view a certifier's licence details and history.
