What are a certifiers responsibilities? Building certifiers have a responsibility in relation to development approval of building work to act in the public interest when addressing matters pertaining to building issues, and should adhere to a Code of Conduct set down by Building Codes Queensland - a division of the Department of Infrastructure and Planning. Areas of knowledge to maintain: Technical knowledge of building practices and principles, building regulations, as well as related engineering, design and construction practices. Familiarity with building related law and the implications of those laws. Knowledge of building codes and standards. Knowledge of risk assessment and management principles relevant to the design and construction of buildings. Obligation to professional and ethical responsibilities. An ability to communicate effectively with design professionals, builders, building owners and the general community.
