Subsidence
Building contractors must comply with BSA's Rectification of Building Work Policy (also see Explanatory Notes) - including when carrying out renovations and alterations - to be protected under the Queensland Statutory Home Warranty Scheme for subsidence in residential construction.

BSA's Defective Residential Construction Work Causing Subsidence - Contractor's Responsibilities booklet is intended to assist contractors, designers and engineers to understand their responsibilities in relation to the BSA Rectification Of Building Work Policy, in so far as it relates to subsidence.

Termites
Termite infestations cause millions of dollars in damage each year to timber structures. Termites (also known as white ants) are a problem in most parts of Australia but are particularly active in hot wet areas such as Coastal Queensland.

BSA's Termite Management Systems booklet is designed to inform you, the home owners you contract with, designers, trade contractors and termite management licensees of the facts behind the many different types of termite management systems and to clarify responsibilities in relation to on-going maintenance requirements.

BSA's Acknowledgement of Termite Protection form provides you and the home owners you are contracting with a guide to ensure all information is discussed and understood in relation to the termite system chosen (cost, durability and maintenance). You must use a licensed pest controller to undertake the work.
