Site Signage
Site signs are required on all sites and it is mandatory for licensees to comply with the requirements regarding signage as prescribed in the Queensland Building Services Authority Act 1991 (QBSA Act).
When does a sign have to be exhibited and by who?
If you are acting as principal contractor you must display a site sign on any building site for which you are responsible.
What are the signage requirements?
A sign must:
Be made of weatherproof materials
Have a surface area of no less than 0.5m squared
Be printed in letters no less than 50mm high
Contain the name under which you are licensed as a contractor (under the QBSA Act) and your contractors licence number
Be exhibited at a prominent position on the building site
Be easily readable from the nearest street alignment
Do subcontractors have to display site signs?
No - A subcontractor on a site is not required by law to exhibit a sign but can choose to erect a sign as long as it complies with the advertising requirements.
