Suspension /Cancellation by BSA
If your licence is suspended or cancelled for any reason you are prohibited from carrying out or undertaking to carry out any building work - this includes signing building contracts, providing quotes or tenders or completing work already in progress. Continuation of any of these activities while suspended or cancelled may result in prosecution.
Licence Suspension
Failure to renew a licence will result in immediate suspension. However if BSA suspends your licence at any other time for any other reason a Notice of Intention to Suspend letter may be sent prior to the suspension being imposed. This letter may provide you with an opportunity to rectify the issue. If your licence is suspended and BSA is satisfied the issue has been resolved the licence will be reactivated.
Licence Cancellation
If your licence is suspended for failure to renew and remains in suspension for a period of three months your licence will be cancelled. If BSA intends to suspend your licence for any other reason a Notice of Intention to Cancel letter may be sent prior to the cancellation being imposed. This warning letter may provide you with an opportunity to rectify the issue.
When your licence is cancelled you must return your licence card/s and certificate/s (if issued) to BSA within 14 days or you may be fined.
Once a licence is cancelled it cannot be reinstated unless a new licence application is submitted, applicable fees paid and the licensing requirements (current at that time) are met.
