What is an occupational licence (other than a fire protection occupational licence)?
This is a licence or registration for an occupation that is issued by an organisation other than BSA and is required by a person carrying out the following occupations:
Plumbing and Drainage - must hold a plumbing and drainage licence issued by the Plumbing Industry Council
Irrigation - Must hold a Water Plumbers - Irrigation or plumbers and drainers licence issued by the Plumbing Industry Council if you did not provide a Certificate III in Irrigation, or equivalent, with your application.
Drainage - must hold a drainage licence issued by the Plumbing Industry Council
Gas Fitting - must hold a gas work licence issued by the Chief Gas Examiner - Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation
Termite Management - Chemical - must hold a licence for pest control activities including timber pests (under the Pest Management Act 2001) issued by the Queensland Department of Health.
What is a Fire Protection Occupational Licence?
This is a licence for a person carrying out fire protection work that is issued by BSA. This is a licence for fire protection work issued by the BSA. This licence is required by an employee or subcontractor who intends to carry out fire protection work for a licensed fire protection contractor. A licensee who holds a contractor or nominee supervisor licence in a relevant fire protection class is not required to also hold a fire protection occupational licence for the same fire protection work.

When does an occupationally licensed person (other than the holder of a fire protection occupational license) require a BSA licence?
A BSA trade contractor licence is required when the holder of an occupational licence (other than a fire protection occupational licence) wants to carry out trade contractor work under a contract to owners or subcontract to builders to carry out occupational work.
How does an occupationally licensed person (other than the holder of a fire protection occupational licence) apply for a BSA Trade Contractor or Nominee Supervisor licence?

Note: If you are the holder of an occupational licence (other than an Irrigation, Termite Management Chemical or Fire Protection Occupational Licence) you ARE NOT required to provide experience on the application form. You have already demonstrated experience to the other licensing body who issued the occupational licence.
What happens if an occupational licence (other than a fire protection occupational licence) is cancelled or suspended?
BSA may suspend or cancel the contractor or nominee supervisor licence issued.
