Who has to complete a managerial course?
Applicants for a contractor or nominee supervisor licence in any of the trade contractor classes are required to complete an approved managerial course.

Note - Applicants for builder classes of licence do not have to complete a separate managerial course because managerial components are included in the technical qualification that meet, or exceed, the managerial course requirement.

Do applicants who have previously held a BSA licence which has been cancelled need to complete a managerial course?
In instances where a licence has been cancelled, and the ex-licensee wants to re-apply for a licence back, the licensing requirements current at the time of submitting the application will have to be met.

A determination will be made at the time of application as to whether a previously completed managerial qualification is deemed to be equivalent or higher than the current requirement. Acceptability of a managerial qualification is not determined by the age of the qualification but by the content of the competencies included in the course. Where the submitted managerial qualification is not deemed to be equivalent or higher than the current competencies required, the applicant will have to complete a new managerial course.

Does a current licensee have to complete another managerial course when applying for a second licence?
No - Applicants who already hold a BSA contractor or nominee supervisor licence and are applying for an additional licence class do not need to complete a managerial course or provide a copy of their managerial qualification with the application.

Yes - Applicants who hold a BSA site supervisor or fire protection occupational licence and are applying for a nominee supervisor or contractor licence will be required to provide a copy of their certificate of completion of an accredited managerial course with their application.

Is another qualification acceptable?
Other qualifications may be acceptable. You should check with your nearest BSA office to clarify the status of other courses.
