How early can a licensee submit its financial information regarding the renewal of its licence?
BSA will not accept an Independent Review Report or Audit Report if it is signed by the Appropriately Qualified Person more than 30 days prior to the licensee’s renewal date or the date the application is received by BSA.
How long after the renewal due date does a licensee have to get their financial information to BSA?
The Licensee has until 4.30pm on the expiry date of their licence to provide the required financial information.
What happens if a Licensee does not provide financial information by the due date?
The Licensee’s licence may be suspended. If the licence remains in suspension for greater than three months it may be cancelled - click here for more information
Can I alter my renewal date?
Licensee's in Categories 4-8 - Licensees with a turnover in excess of $12M may request a change of renewal date for a period greater than 12 months, to a date no later than 3 months after the end of its financial year end date by completing a Request to Change Renewal Date form and returning it with their renewal notice at the time of renewal. Licensees in Categories 1-3 - Licensees with a turnover of between $300,001 and $12M will be given the opportunity to alter their future renewal date at the time of their renewal, to allow them to rely on their usual financial year end accounts.

Licensees who Self Certify - Licensees who renew their licence by providing a Declaration are unable to change their future renewal date.
If my licence is suspended, what do I have to do to have it reinstated?
If the licence is suspended for not providing the relevant financial information, it cannot be reinstated until BSA receives the appropriate financial information in accordance with the Queensland Building Services Board's policy. This includes the provision of the necessary Professional Indemnity Insurance if applicable to the licence.
If I am changing my renewal date, and I fall within Category 1-3, will the dates between 25 December and 1 January be excluded from the random renewal dates?
Yes - These dates will be excluded to allow for the Christmas period.
If I am changing my renewal date, and I fall within Category 1-3, do I need to provide financial information at the time of the current renewal date or the new one?
Licensees will be required to provide an Independent Review Report at the time of both renewals, as they are submitting to the renewal process twice in the same year.
Can I change my renewal date at any time?
No - Licensees who must submit either an Independent Review Report or Audit Report may only change their renewal date at the time of their renewal.
